Students train community members in neighborhoods with the slowest ambulance response times in Hands Only CPR

In their emergency management courses students evaluated ambulance response times by neighborhood and across socio-economic data.  They recognized a pattern - ambulance response times are slower for communities of color; places where many of our students live.

In response, students decided to train their neighborhoods in Hands Only CPR, a technique that has been shown to greatly improve the probability of surviving a cardiac event.  Students have trained almost 1,000 New Yorkers since its launch  in just its first few months and has been generously seed funded by The Shippy Foundation.
